en route to madrid

A very pleasant sunny morning and a leisurely breakfast in the Hilton lounge.
For some reason we cannot check-in online for our onward flight from Madrid to Santiago - we will have to enquire once we get to Heathrow. We are wondering if there will be any infection control at Madrid and Santiago airports due to the Ebola situation!
A pleasant and uneventful trip from Gatwick to Heathrow, but traffic jams in the opposite direction and we have now checked our luggage in to Santiago and obtained our boarding passes for our flight from Madrid.
Security took everything out of my camera backpack and then put it all back in again with no issues!
No duty-free shopping on this leg - a first for Alison!
Just a couple more hours in the lounge at T5 and we will be on our way.
We were called on time for our flight which then waited 30 minutes before taking off.
A good menu washed down with Rioja: "dried fruit salad", which was actually shredded apple salad with walnuts, followed by a vealburger or spicy ravioli, then cheese and a raspberry sponge plus coffee.
We touched down on time and then parked out somewhere on the apron (apologies given); a bus met the plane and then took us on a long journey to the other end of the terminal building.  We then had to wait while the driver phoned for someone to open the door.  The  we all trooped up two flights of stairs and were met at the top by a lady shouting "transit passengers.  we waited with her until everyone had disembarked and then followed her back down the same stairs to the same bus which then took us on an underground journey to the other side of the airport - the satellite terminal.  30 minutes after landing we arrived at the lounge where we now have about an hour and a half before our long flight to Santiago just after midnight - time for some ice cream!
Looking forward to our hotel in Santiago and a city tour in the morning when we arrive!.
